"Strangeness in the Nucleon"

Gregorio Herdoiza

(IFT, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid)

The estimate of the fraction of the nucleon mass due to the contribution of strange quarks suffers from large experimental and theoretical uncertainties. In the context of ongoing experiments aiming at the direct detection of Dark Matter (DM) particles, accurate determinations of the strangeness in the nucleon are required to put constraints on the DM-nucleon cross-section. I will review how the recent progress in lattice QCD calculations canprovide a model independent determination of this quantity
