"Adjoint Symmetries, Integrating Factors and Integrals of Motion of Certain Hamiltonian Systems With Two Degrees of Freedom"
M. Senthilvelan
In this talk we present adjoint symmetries, integrating factors and integrals of motion associated with certain two dimensional Hamiltonian systems. In particular we consider the equations of motion associated with the two dimensional quartic anharmonic oscillator and investigate its integrating factors. Our investigations reveal that the genearlized symmetries reported earlier for this system are nothing but the integrating factors for their respective equations of motion. Using these integrating factors we obtain the first integrals associated with thess system. Further, we briefly discuss the application of method to systems involving higher degrees of freedom and dissipative systems.
